During the second seminar organised by My Experience Molise, Prof. Giovanni Maddalena from the University of Molise gave a talk titled "Abduction: Intuiting, Guessing, or Reasoning?" This talk discussed the concept of abduction, also known as retroduction, which was introduced by Peirce as a new innovation in the history of logic. In his talk, Prof. Maddalena delved into whether abduction is a type of rationally justified reasoning or merely related to guessing and intuition. Additionally, defending abductive rationality requires recognition of a certain kind of metaphysical realism.
