During the eleventh seminar organised by My Experience Molise project, Selene Arfini (Università di Pavia) presented a talk intitled "The role of values in curiosity: Can we become curious about something even if we don’t care?".
Despite the important role that curiosity plays in learning, creativity, and discovery, it is still ambiguously conceptualized in the philosophical and psychological literature. For example, it is not clear yet whether values have an impact over people’s curiosity. This seminar aimed at contributing to this discussion explaining how not only values can impact what people become curious about, but also how becoming curious of something can influence what people care about and value.
